Otter is one of the best video captioning tools available on the Internet. If you don't already have an Otter account, talk to AT tech about how to sign in at https://otter.ai/home
Or - ask one of us on the AT team to create the captions for you.
From the Home screen - click on the "Import" button located at the upper right.
Use the next window to either browse or drag-and-drop to identify the video you wish to upload.
A progress meter will appear as your video loads. Large files can take quite some time. Once loaded it should look like this. Just click "Done".
The file will need to "process" before you can view and edit it.
When it is ready, click the file's name to open it.
The text content of your video will display on the next screen. Depending on how long it is and how many voices are involved, there may or may not be preset paragraphs. You don't need to worry about those very much.
You can listen and read at this screen, if you wish. But if you discover that you need to make any edits, you must click the "Edit" button at the upper right corner.
The next screen will look identical, expect now you can edit the text at will. Use the "Play" button to play/pause as you go. When you are finished click the "Done" button at the upper right corner of the screen.
Otter will then process the changes. It may take time, as you are likely doing this with your longer videos.
You can re-edit, as needed. When you are done the captions will be ready to upload to Knowmia or Vimeo.
