If you need access to admin privileges on a loaner Mac, most have a special user name for this purpose.
How to Update Software apps and settings with Admin account
When a window pops up for upgrading some softwares etc, please use the following account.
User Name: Student Admin
(be sure to put a space between the two words)
Password: IAIAstudent
(pay close attention to the capitalization)
User Name: Student Admin

How to Access the Student Admin Account for Lifting System Preference Restrictions
- Log off the Student user account
- Choose Other Account (Student Admin user won't be visible on the login screen)
- Note - Do Not tap [Return] until Step 4.
Use the following login credentials:
User Name: Student Admin
(be sure to put a space between the two words)
Password: IAIAstudent
(pay close attention to the capitalization) - Hold down the [Shift] key then tap the [Return] key.
- You will see a pop up window asking whether to disable the locked-down system preferences setting.
Choose Disable to actually disable the restriction within this Student Admin account.
User Name: Student Admin
Password: IAIAstudent

Once you've installed a feature or resolved a setting issue, you should return to the Student user name to continue your work on the Mac.
