Setting Up A Dropbox Account (Mac)

Dropbox is a Cloud Storage app that allows users to save, edit and share your documents, images, and etc. with others in your organization or group.

To set up your Dropbox account

If you do not already have a Dropbox account, go to https://www.dropbox.com and then look for the Sign up for Free section of the page. Fill in the necessary information, and click the Sign up for free box.

At the Dropbox account creation screen, use the email account to which you want Dropbox to be associated for cloud storage.

You may have to fill in the Captcha text box to verify to Dropbox that you are not a "bot". Be sure you agree to Dropbox terms and then click the Create an account button.

If you have your own computer, you can install the Dropbox App onto your computer for easy access and synchronization.

Click the Free Download button to download the app.

You will be notified that you are downloading the Dropbox app.

You should be able to view the progress indicator in some part of your web browser. If you're using Google Chrome, you will see the indicator at the lower left side of the screen.

Double click the Dropbox file you just downloaded. If you cannot find it, search for it in your Downloads folder or by using the Finder. This will start the installation process.

Once the installation process has completed look for the Dropbox icon in your Applications menu as well as in the Favorites section. You will get a message that asks you to verify your email address. Check your email for message from Dropbox that asks you to click a link to complete the process.

Sharing your file with another person

When the dialog box appears, send the link to the file you saved to the email of the desired recipient. You can include a message to that person, if you choose.

If you have done so correctly, you will receive a message that you successfully shared the file.
