Outlook creates a "focused" inbox which can often hide messages you actually want to see. It's part of Microsoft's permission to scan your email (ultimately hoping to target you with online ads based on your email correspondence.
Turn Off the Focused Inbox
Now the focused inbox is switched off. You can swtich this on and off as desired.
