Hypothesis is a social annotation tool. It allows you and your students to "write in the margins" of digital texts. This option helps students engage with reading assignments, share their reflections, and find inspiration in each others' observations and questions.
Hypothesis is available for all IAIA courses as an external tool in Canvas assignments.
A Brief Video (2 1/2 minutes)
Begin by opening the Canvas course for which you'd like to create an Hypothesis assignment.
Fill in the Assignment Name, instructions, and point value as you usually would.
Hypothesis will work with text from webpages and PDFs.
Note: PDFs must be saved as text (as opposed to a picture of text).
Note: To select a PDF from Canvas, you'll need to have first uploaded the PDF file you want to use.
Dont' forget to click Save!
